Lily at 2 months

Lily had her 2 month checkup today, and I didn’t make her pediatrician appointment, because I was at work. I’m so glad that I missed it though, because I’m sure that I would’ve cried right along with her after watching her get three shots. I’m not sure exactly what all three things she got vaccinated for, but I’m pretty sure one was polio and another one was for rotavirus. I know I’m a terrible mother…you can judge me later.

Besides the shots, Lily has grown considerably! She went from 8lbs. 1 ounce, 22 inches, to 10lbs. 13 ounces and 24 inches in 2 months! My aunt told me that Lily is almost as tall as the world’s smallest midget whose height is 2 feet and 8 inches. haha. I’m so proud..

Last but not least, we have a prayer request to mention. Lily has had a cold for the past two weeks, and her breathing has still been phlemy and labored. The pediatrician is referring us on to a pulmonologist, because he doesn’t think that a cold would last that long. He said that it could be a variety of things..either an obstruction in her lungs, something that she was born with (whatever that means), or tracheomalacia (which is a floppiness of the walls of the trachea/windpipe). We’re hoping that it’s not anything serious, or anything that is going to involve putting her through a lot of uncomfortable tests. Thank you for your prayers already!

First Cold

Lily cried all day yesterday, and only slept for about 20 minutes the whole day. It was totally out of character for her, since she usually sleeps for what seems like a million hours a day. We took her to the pediatrician this morning, and they said that she just had a minor cold. That was a huge relief for me, since I pretty much thought she was dieing. haha. The good thing about her being up all day yesterday, meant that when she finally did fall sleep at 10pm, she didn’t wake up until 6:30 a.m. I was so thankful too, because I was pretty worn out, and wasn’t looking forward to an all-nighter.

We took her to Pediatric associates this morning, and he gave us a bunch of suggestions to make her more comfortable, while she has a cold. I love Pediatric associates by the way. They have late hours for working parents, and they’re open all day on the weekends too, in case your kid is sick and needs to be seen immediately. They also have a separate room to take newborns, so they’re not exposed to other sick kids in the lobby. I highly recommend it. 🙂

Hopefully, Lily gets better so she can be alert for the Gator/Kentucky game. We’re hoping for an upset! It would be nice to end the Kentucky winning streak.

Sugar Bowl 2010

Happy New Year!  The Brunjes are excited to gear up to watch another exciting bowl game this year! It’s definitely going to be a memorable game as it’s Tim Tebow’s last college football game. Tebow is most definitely the greatest football player the Gators have ever seen, and may have been one of the greatest college football players of all time. His determination and leadership are unparalleled. He spoiled Gator fans, by leaving them feeling extremely disappointed that they “just” made the Sugar Bowl. He brought us 2 national championships within 4 years, when previously we had only won one in the whole century! I realize that he didn’t play these games single handedly, but I definitely don’t think we would’ve had the same outcome without him.

The 2009 football season was a crazy one…Brandon spikes eye gouging, drunk driving arrests, injuries, Charlie Strong accepting the head coaching job at Lousiville, and the craziest of all ..Urban Meyer taking a leave of absence! I’m so thankful that he decided to come back, and not resign completely. After Billy Donovan accepted the job at Orlando after the back to back national championships, it really hurt our recruiting possibilities. I don’t think that will be the case in this situation, since Urban turned over his decision pretty quickly.

I look forward to the 2010 season, and watching Brantley step up to the plate, but it will be sad to not see Tebow step onto the field bringing all of his excitement to the game.
